4 Fundamental Ideas:

1. We must avoid carrying our opponent’s weight

Avoid it specially over the back of our neck and back of our shoulders like this:

Carry weight in mechanically advantageous positions:

Never let your chest get unaligned with our base (Always directly above your knees and lower body)

Carry weight with your forehead and temple instead:

Preserve and put more priority in your posture than your initial takedown

And it is very easy to transition to other takedown setups from this structures position (super hard if we are carrying weight on our back of our head, the back of our shoulders and our back)

Always try to get your knees off the mat as soon as possible!

2. Get your knees off the mat ASAP!

Even when you need to initiate the takedown by getting to your knees, it’s very important to try to get off your knees immediately.

Finishing a takedown from your knees is not very high percentage.

3. Whenever you can do a takedown without going to your knees, don’t go to your knees!

If you can access the back of your partner’s knees without going to your knees, always do it.
